Diane & Miko – Editorial Style Engagement Shoot ala Vanity Fair

Well Good Afternoon, Everyone,

It seems that the longer I do this, the cooler some of the clients I get to work with are. As I’ve mentioned through countless posts in blogs past, we absolutely love the opportunity to do something really creative and editorial-looking for clients; given my past shooting fashion photography in Toronto, it’s always a great time when subjects have the same passion for that look as we do. Diane & Miko are a couple that have seen pretty much everything in the wedding world, both being in the industry themselves – and though it’s not my place to divulge exactly what they do, let’s just say the pressure to perform up to expectations has never been greater. Luckily, I can say without ego that these are some of the coolest, most creative engagement photos in Toronto I’ve ever shot. I feel like we nailed our editorial vibe just perfectly.

The first image is an homage to Annie Leibovitz – the shot is a near recreation of one of her images and really she deserves all the credit for it. The remainder stay on a loose storyline from the hotel room to the eventual roadside where we wrapped up. We had an absolute blast for the entirety of the session, and a huge thanks to the great people at the Novotel Hotel in Vaughan for hooking us up with access (..and drinks! Not pictured. haha).

There is a bit of mood here that both Miko & Diane just simply nailed perfectly. It’s not always easy to ask things of clients who aren’t accustomed to having their photo taken, but it is no exaggeration to state it was just as simple as working with pros. No lie.

This ‘between scenes’ shot is one of my favs. There is just so much to see, so much being told, and Di is just looking amazing.
