Loretta & Jonathan – the Non-Wedding Wedding

Having the wedding ceremony prior to the actual wedding day? Man oh man, does that ever relieve a lot of stress! ๐Ÿ˜€ So often, brides and grooms get wrapped up in the moment to moment stresses of the wedding day – from ceremony start to making sure dinner is at the proper time, a most special event can be lost to micromanagement. A ceremony seperately, followed by a celebratory reception? Now that’s where it’s at! You’ll notice this set of images lacks that ceremonial portion, and simply captures two people in love, starting their lives together – door games, tea ceremony, and party. Once again, the amazing Nathaniel D was my secondary photographer for this event.

Man of the hour.

Door games! Loretta listens in from upstairs while her husband starts his assault.

This image deserves a huge print. From Loretta’s makeup work (cheers Peggy Lee Bridal), the soft light, and the stunning expression.

Tea ceremony.

This just makes me happy.

Another shot that I just felt deserved a lot more space to be appreciated. There were about 10 versions of this frame shot from slightly different angles, and this one just seemed to pull everything together.

Spencers at the Waterfront always has amazing backdrops.

A bit of play with light and shadow helps create a bit of mood here.

Nate helps out as a light-test subject with one of Loretta’s lovely BMs.

This bridal image just sings.

Just perfect.

Just a capture that I couldn’t help but share from our groom.

This helps to give an idea of just how great everything looked.

Sometimes a slideshow is great laughs for every other person at the wedding. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Strapless dresses make for tricky tosses. Thankfully our bride is an awesome sport and didn’t mind at all that we post up this shot, which is pretty damn funny.

The Toronto Waterfront Engagement Session With Sara-Jane & Luke

It seems that, even kicking and screaming, proper Springtime weather in the downtown GTA refuses to show it’s face. And though I’m game for an engagement photoshoot in any weather, I find our clients tend to prefer something that doesn’t incur frostbite if at all possible. Our session recently with SJ & Luke happened to be one of those rare Ontario days in April when you could exhale without seeing it; we took full advantage of (kind of) bare-sleeve temps and an unrelenting sun.

Why Settle for Boring? Winter Engagement Photoshoot Editorial Mashup Extraordinaire With Sean & Lynzi

Well well, everyone – long time no see! Though we’ve been crazy busy shooting (check out our oft-updated Facebook Page to get an idea..!) throughout the year and neglecting our poor blog posts, a few huge pieces of news from us have really made things exciting – a) my lovely wife and I are new owners of both a new puppy as well as a new home just outside of Toronto, but also b) we are expecting our first child! ๐Ÿ™‚ As you can imagine, the flurry of events surrounding life these days has made our time left to take care of our social media a little lacking. We’ll do better, promise. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Speaking of which – I thought it only proper to share some of the selections from a recent winter engagement photosession in Toronto area. Now, I don’t think it does this set of images justice to refer to them as simply an ‘engagement shoot’ – indeed, our approach to this session was both a ‘happy, light and romantic’ portion, and a more ‘edgy, editorial’ slanted set all in one day. Given our fashion roots, this is the type of pictorial we absolutely love to bring to life, and our couple Lynzi and Sean were on board and enthusiastic from start to finish, making it a breeze. Both halves of our session were shot in Pickering, a city just outside of Toronto, Ontario. Half of our time was spent in the salon where our bride to be works, the other on a nearby pond – the range of styles and moods brought forth in this set is something we’re really quite proud of, and I hope to see more couples take us up on this kind of session in the future. Enjoy!
